Speeches were made after a report by Kim Yong Sul, chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Ukraine.

The reporter and speakers stressed that the October 4 declaration adopted thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il's patriotic will for reunification and great and courageous decision is a great programme for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country in the idea of "By our nation itself" and a programme for comprehensively implementing the June 15 joint declaration.

The October 4 declaration serves as a banner encouraging the overseas compatriots to achieve the country's reunification by the concerted efforts of the Koreans in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, they noted.

Recalling that the publication of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration ushered in a new era of reconciliation, cooperation and reunification, they strongly condemned the Lee Myung Bak regime for becoming evermore undisguised in its moves against reunification and the nation quite contrary to the era.

The validity and vitality of the above-said declarations are strikingly demonstrated day by day, they said, calling on the overseas compatriots to intensify the reunification movement in order to cope with the racket of confrontation with the DPRK being kicked up in south Korea.
