Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- To achieve reunification by federal formula based on one nation, one state and two systems and two governments is the only shortcut to promoting reconciliation and unity between the north and the south, putting an end to the national division caused by outside forces and achieving the peaceful reunification of the country. Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a signed article. Reunifying the country by federal formula means building a unified national state, leaving the differing ideologies and systems in the north and the south as they are, the article notes, and goes on: President Kim Il Sung who regarded national reunification as the supreme task of the Korean nation from the very day of its division put forward the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo with deep penetration and clairvoyant wisdom and scientific insight into the essence and urgency of the solution to the issue of reunification and the reality of the country and worked heart and soul for its realization. The federal formula is a way for reunification in full line with the Korean nation's desire for reunification and the realistic conditions of the country. The homogenous Korean nation is quite capable of achieving reunification by the federal formula on the basis of tolerating the differing ideologies and systems in the north and the south. The federal formula is a fair and aboveboard way of achieving reunification as it does not pursue the superiority and interests of one side but promotes interests common to the nation. When the country is reunified by the federal formula, it will be possible for the Koreans to establish sovereignty throughout Korea and achieve the great unity as one and same nation and Korea will emerge a unified national state, independent, peaceful and neutral. The unified federal state will neither infringe upon the interests of the neighboring countries nor pose any threat to those countries. The north and the south of Korea recognized in the historic June 15 joint declaration that there is a community in the north-proposed low-level federation and the south side's proposal for confederation and solemnly declared at home and abroad that they would work for reunification in this direction. Traitor Lee Myung Bak of south Korea is, however, seeking the "unification of systems," not the peaceful reunification of the north and the south, denying the June 15 joint declaration supported and hailed by all Koreans. This is intolerable as it is a criminal act of inciting confrontation between the north and the south and bringing a war of aggression against the north, brushing aside the proposal for achieving reunification by federal formula, a realistic way of achieving national independence and reunification. |
