Anniversary of Opening of Diplomatic Relations between DPRK and Russia Observed

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- A photo exhibition of Russia was opened with due ceremony at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre on Tuesday under the co-sponsorship of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, the Russian embassy here and the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Russia. On display at the exhibition hall were photos showing the historic external activities conducted by President Kim Il Sung, the meetings of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, former Russian president, and Kim Jong Il's visit to Russia and other photos introducing Russia. Present at the opening ceremony were Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Hong Son Ok, vice-chairwoman of the committee who is chairwoman of the association, officials concerned and working people in Pyongyang and Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery Sukhinin and staff members of his embassy. Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of various countries and staff members of different embassies here. Speeches were made at the ceremony. Speakers said that over the past six decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Russia the peoples of the two countries have made positive efforts to boost the friendly and cooperative relations in line with their common wishes and desire. They noted that the photo exhibition clearly showed the undying feats performed by the top leaders of the DPRK and Russia in developing the bilateral friendly relations and successes made by the Russian people. They stressed that the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Russia are developing on good terms as the days go by under the deep care of Kim Jong Il and Russian President Dmitri Anatoliyevich Medvedev. The participants looked round the exhibited photos. A film show took place at the Chollima House of Culture that day on the same occasion.
