Minju Joson was founded and its inaugural issue published on June 4, Juche 35 (1946).

Present at the meeting were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, the staff and employees of the newspaper.

Kim Jong Suk, editor-in-chief of the newspaper, in her report made at the meeting said that General Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea Is a Socialist State of Juche with Invincible Might" glorifies the more than six decade-long history of Minju Joson, organ of the DPRK government, and encourages all its officials, journalists and editors in their efforts to perform fresh feats.

The course of publishing 20,000 issues of the newspaper is associated with the warm care shown by the peerlessly great persons who founded the Juche-based idea of media, always attaching importance to a writing brush as well as to arms in the revolution and construction, and worked heart and soul for the development of the revolutionary media, the reporter noted, and went on:

President Kim Il Sung clarified theoretical and practical issues ranging from the character, mission and basic duty of the newspaper to the principle to govern the journalists' activities and its edition and publication, leading it with warm care to preserve its status as the organ of the government and serve as a powerful ideological weapon.

Anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk, true to the noble intention of the President, paid deep attention to its foundation and publication and took care of the newspaper so that it might creditably fulfill its mission and role.

Kim Jong Il has energetically led the newspaper to add shine to the tradition established by the President and his exploits performed in building the organ of the government.

The reporter stressed that the newspaper would increase its militant function and role and thus actively contribute to the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.
