Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Recently the Lee Myung Bak group replaced the present president of the south Korean Red Cross by a new guy even before the expiry of the term of his office under the pretext of liquidating the remnants of the "pro-north leftist regime." A spokesman for the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society in a statement released Thursday in this regard branded this action as an unpardonable treacherous and anti-reunification action running counter to the desire of all the compatriots for reconciliation and unity of the nation and the basic spirit of the Red Cross advocating humanitarianism and neutrality. The statement went on: Ryu Jong Ha nominated by traitor Lee as the president of the south Korean Red Cross is an ultra-rightist conservative who took an active part in shaping the treacherous "policy towards the north" and finds himself busy inciting confrontation with compatriots as a minion of the pro-U.S. conservative regime. In the past days Lee let pro-U.S. anti-reunification elements hold important posts in the "government" and these days he assigned ultra-rightist conservatives duties to handle humanitarian work though they are steeped in the distrust and bitterness towards compatriots to the marrow of their bones. These actions brought to light once again his intention to pursue the anti-DPRK and anti-reunification confrontational policy, persistently refusing to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. It is clear that it is impossible to expect any Red Cross undertaking between the north and the south and any discussion on the humanitarian problem as long as the man serving the Lee group in its anti-DPRK confrontational moves remains the boss of the Red Cross of south Korea. The Lee Myung Bak group will be held fully responsible for all the consequences to be caused by its action to the Red Cross undertakings between the north and the south in the future. |
