Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Recently Japanese Prime Minister Aso was reported to have described the Pacific War ignited by the Japanese imperialists as the "great east Asian war" and prattled that "Japan has a glorious history, too" and the like. Rodong Sinmun Friday in its signed commentary carried in this connection dismisses his jargon as foolish militarist remarks intended to realize Japan's old dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere," far from dropping it even in the 21st century. The war provoked by the Japanese imperialists during the period of the Second World War was a criminal war to conquer the continent in a bid to turn Asia into their colony under the motto of establishing the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere," the commentary notes, and goes on: Nevertheless, the present Japanese prime minister did not hesitate to utter the words "great east Asian war". This was not a gaffe committed by him because of his ignorance of history or any misunderstanding. The reckless remark made by Aso about "glorious history" without feeling guilty conscience or shame for Japan's past aggression and defeats is nothing but outbursts that can be let loose only by those who are grinding their teeth to take revenge for its defeat in the war. The Japanese authorities are keen to realize in the present times the old dream of realizing the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" which their militarist forefathers failed to do in the past. This is an anachronistic daydream. The Aso cabinet had better stop working hard to realize the above-said old dream which only makes its relations with its neighboring countries complicated. It would be well advised to opt for redressing Japan's past crimes, though belatedly, and drop its ridiculous militarist ambition, urges the commentary. |
