All People's Struggle for Frustrating Lee Regime's Suppression Called for

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- The emergency people's action to protect democracy and check suppression of candlelight actions was formed on Oct. 15. It groups at least 100 civic and public organizations including the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the joint conference of human rights organizations.

A press conference took place in Seoul on the same day in connection with the inauguration of the organization.

Speakers at the press conference accused the Lee Myung Bak group of going mad with the fascist suppression aimed at eliminating progressive forces.

They called upon the people from all walks of life to firmly unite as one to frustrate the Lee "government's" suppression of people under the pretext of "security" in a bid to turn back the clock of history.

They declared they would counter the authorities' unwarranted suppression of people under the pretext of "security" in order to protect candlelight and democracy.

They stated that the organization would form "a measure committee of families of victims to the suppression of people under the pretext of security" and simultaneously launch such a dynamic struggle as staging a joint action to check the suppression of people under the pretext of "security" across south Korea.

They called upon people from all walks of life to turn out in the nation-wide struggle to frustrate the Lee regime's above-said suppression aimed at bringing back the era of dictatorship.
