The statement said:

President Kim Il Sung who embarked on the road of revolution in his early years formed the DIU with young revolutionaries of new generation of Korea and led the arduous armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists to victory and thus liberated the country.

The WPK has its historic roots in the DIU.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il has steadily developed the WPK into an ever-victorious party and an organizer and guide of all victories of the Korean people for more than four decades since he started his work at the Central Committee of the WPK.

Thanks to the original Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il and the tested leadership of the WPK the DPRK has become a country with a national defence capacity powerful enough to smash any enemies.

We sincerely wish the Korean people greater successes in their efforts to build an economic power and achieve the country's reunification single-mindedly united around Kim Jong Il.
