The Lee Myung Bak fascist clique is kicking up a whirlwind of wholesale arrest and suppression of members of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the All-People Measure Council against the Total Opening of south Korean Markets to American Beef and the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea who took the lead in the just struggle for the dignity and sovereignty of the nation and the vital rights of the people despite the unanimous rebuff and denunciation at home and abroad, the statement noted, and continued:

The fascist clique is cracking down on the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the Teachers Union, the Council of Youth Organizations and other pro-reunification patriotic organizations of south Korea which have promoted the June 15 reunification movement and independence and democratization of south Korean society, after branding them as "enemy-benefiting organizations" and "pro-north leftist forces" on charge of the violation of the "National Security Law" and imposing harsh penalties upon pro-reunification patriots after arresting them one after another.

This clearly indicates that the Lee group is keen to totally eliminate organizations and figures of the organizations aspiring after independence and democratization of south Korean society and national concord and reunification and revive the harsh fascist dictatorship by completely throwing away the mask of "democracy" and "politics for the people" it wore in the early period of its office.

The Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland bitterly condemns in the name of the whole nation the Lee group's said fascist suppression, branding it as a wanton challenge to the unanimous aspiration and wishes of the south Korean people for independence, democracy and reunification and unpardonable criminal act to stem trend of the June 15 era of reunification.

The south Korean people's struggle for independence, democracy and reunification can never be branded as a crime nor can it become a target of suppression.

To suppress the struggle for independent new politics, democracy and vital rights by branding it as "illegal" is, indeed, a crime and act of treachery as it is opposed to independence, the life and soul of the nation, and denies democracy, the aspiration and right of the people.

The Lee group has turned south Korea into a land under the reign of fascism where traitors judge patriots, injustice lacerates justice and human rights and democracy are totally trampled down. These are the crimes committed by the Lee group after it came to power.

Neither independence nor democracy in south Korea nor peace nor reunification of the country can be expected as long as the Lee group is allowed to stay in power.

The Lee group should face up to the developments and stop at once the fascist suppression of the organizations of the progressive movement.
