Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- Members of the Democratic Labor Party staged a stay-in strike in tent in Seoul on Oct. 21 demanding a probe into the truth about "government" officials' expropriation of subsidies to rice cultivators, according to the south Korean CBS. Prior to the strike, Kang Ki Gap, representative of the above-said party, called a press conference in which he noted that officials' irregularities and corruption are touching off resentment not only among the peasants but among all other people. He urged the authorities to immediately open to the public the list of those involved in the crimes at the "inspection of administration." Meanwhile, the Lawyers Association for Democratic Society, the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society and four other civic and public organizations called a joint press conference in Seoul on the same day and demanded the authorities immediately conduct the "inspection of administration" for settlement of the above-said issue. The organizations held that a legal action should be taken against those "government" officials who expropriated the subsidies to rice cultivators. |
