Wreaths Laid before Friendship Tower

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid before the Friendship Tower on Saturday on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' entry into the Korean front. Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Choe Yong Rim, secretary general of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Pak Jae Gyong, vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Myong San, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is also vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, Kim Jong Sik, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, officials concerned and working people in the city. Placed before the tower amidst the playing of wreath-laying music were a wreath in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and the DPRK Cabinet, wreaths in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of People's Security, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Culture, a wreath in the joint name of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association and a wreath in the joint name of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK and the Pyongyang City People's Committee. Then the participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the fallen fighters of the Chinese People's Volunteers who bravely fought after entering into the Korean front. A wreath in the joint name of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK and the Pyongyang City People's Committee, a wreath in the joint name of the Hyongjesan District Committee of Pyongyang City of the WPK and the Hyongjesan District People's Committee and a wreath in the name of a unit of the Korean People's Army were placed before the cemetery of fallen fighters of the CPV in Hyongjesan District on the same day. Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming and staff members of his embassy and the Central Committee of the Association of Chinese Residents in Korea laid wreaths before the Friendship Tower and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the CPV in Hyongjesan District of Pyongyang that day. Floral tribute was paid by the art troupe of the Political Department of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army headed by its Deputy Director Song Kun to the Friendship Tower on the same day. |
