Japan's Extension of Its Sanctions against DPRK Slammed
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Diet's recent decision to extend sanctions against the DPRK including the embargo on the latter's ships for another six months over the so-called abduction issue was prompted by a criminal intention to torpedo the process of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and extremely bedevil the DPRK-Japan relations in a bid to create an environment favorable for converting Japan into a military giant and launching overseas aggression. Minju Joson Tuesday observes this in a signed commentary.

Before vociferating about someone's abduction issue, Japan should have honestly admitted and repented of and settled the issue of the forcible drafting of Koreans committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past and the luring and abduction of citizens of the DPRK perpetrated by Japan in recent years, the commentary notes, and goes on:

Japan's call for tightening "sanctions" against the DPRK and increasing pressure upon it over the abduction issue is nothing but a rash act which reminds one of a thief crying "Stop the thief!"

It is as foolish and ridiculous an act as running one's head to a wall for Japan to try to do harm to the DPRK through "sanctions" and "pressure".

The Japanese reactionaries are sticking to the sanctions even though they know well such action is useless because they do not work on the DPRK at all. Lurking behind this is the blacked-hearted intention of Japan to evade the liquidation of its past and justify the violation of the rights of Koreans in Japan.

Japan seeks to put pressure upon someone and browbeat him by extending the sanctions against the DPRK to fish in troubled waters. This is nothing but a foolish and clumsy attempt of a "political pigmy."

The Japanese reactionaries should make honest repentance and proper reparation for the crimes committed by Japan in the past, keenly aware that its settlement of its past crimes is the core issue in the DPRK-Japan relations.

They should bear in mind that "sanctions" and "pressure" would only precipitate their self-destruction.
