The Research Institute of Environmental Protection under the Ministry of Land and Environment Conservation has recently developed a new atmospheric environment management aid system which is of weighty significance in putting the atmospheric environment management on IT.

The system is attracting attention of experts as it makes it possible to take accurate measurement of the air pollution distribution and manage the environmental conservation in an effective way.

The system estimates the atmospheric environment in a given city or given region in a scientific way on the basis of the air pollutants diffusion model in various topographies, thus greatly helping toward the environmental policy-making of the country.

Along with it, the system programs the research into yellow dust, which had been relied mainly on observation data, so as to give a correct analysis of its influence on climate and forecast its prospect.

The institute has also made a new progress in the research into environment management system at industrial establishments.

Scientists of the institute have set environmental pollution objects in the given units and developed a dust extraction device for removing gas and dust emitted in the production processes and materials for ensuring the environmental safety of goods.

Meanwhile, the institute has fully solved technical problems to put water replacement on a new scientific foundation on the basis of detailed investigation of the change of general water quality in River Taedong.
