Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The present reality requires developing countries to boost South-South cooperation in the agricultural field, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
It goes on:
It is by no means difficult for developing countries to strengthen South-South cooperation in the agricultural field.
Developing countries have the bulk of agricultural resources and manpower resources in the world and possess experience and technique to a considerable extent enough to conduct exchange in the agricultural field. If they exchange, disseminate and develop even a single example of experience and technology, it is possible to solve a lot of problems arising in the agricultural field.
If they sincerely help and cooperate with each other on the principle of equality, mutual benefit and mutual accommodation, they can certainly develop agriculture and achieve self-sufficiency in food.
Now that the Western countries are foolish enough to contend that it is impossible to settle the food problem without their assistance, developing countries should demonstrate their will to solve the food problem by their own efforts without difficulty through closer South-South cooperation.
Developing countries should effect South-South cooperation in the agricultural field, to begin with, in order to attain self-sufficiency in food, the most urgent problem at present.
They have the possibility to conduct favorable cooperation because of their common historical conditions and aspirations. If they develop the bilateral and regional cooperation and exchange, they can strengthen their independence in agriculture and achieve great success in solving the food problem, without relying on the developed countries.
Developing countries should not forget the lesson drawn from the fact that they have failed to gain noticeable success in tackling the food crisis owing to the unreasonable moves of the imperialists but make every possible effort to strengthen South-South cooperation in the agricultural field.
Herein lies the right way for developing countries to solve the food problem as early as possible and achieve independent progress and prosperity.
