Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Reconciliation Council released a statement on Nov. 1 denouncing the Lee Myung Bak group for kicking up a whirlwind of suppression to stamp out the progressive movement organizations in south Korea while crying out for "eliminating pro-north leftist forces".

Accusing the group of traitors of perpetrating such fascist suppression as searching offices of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in various parts of south Korea, the June 15 Publishing House and the June 15 TV, etc., confiscating documents and arresting leading members of the solidarity one after another including its executive chairman on charges of violation of the ill-famed "National Security Law", the statement continued:

The organizations that have become targets of suppression in south Korea are righteous patriotic organizations that have taken the lead in the struggle to defend the nation's dignity, sovereignty and the right to existence, opposed to outsiders, and exerted all their efforts to support and implement the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

However, the above-said group is brutally suppressing these organizations after labeling them "enemy-benefiting organizations" while regarding them as thorns in its flesh. This glaringly reveals its despicable anti-reunification and fascist true colors.

The acts of benefiting the enemy to be punished by the nation in the true sense of the words are the ones of frantically inciting confrontation between fellow countrymen while negating the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration after selling off the interests and the sovereignty of the nation to outsiders. The Lee group of traitors is the arch criminals.

The reality clearly proves that it is impossible to expect the democratization of the south Korean society and the guarantee of the right to existence nor is it possible to improve the inter-Korean relations and national reunification, the cherished desire of the nation, as long as the present conservative ruling forces are allowed to stay in power.

The Lee group should face up to the irresistible trend of the times and the mindset of the people towards independence, democracy, reunification and prosperity and immediately stop the suppression of the progressive pro-reunification patriotic organizations and the confrontation with the DPRK.
