Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- Rural villages that are called "socialist rural village in the Songun era" have grown in number in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in recent years.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited Poman-ri, Sohung County, North Hwanghae Province in July Juche 90 (2001), where he said the village was an Arcadia, fairyland of socialism in the age of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Cosy and modern rural dwelling houses, fruit trees planted around them, a fish-farm and a power station newly built in the village are well blended with each other to present beautiful scenery. Since the village was named one of the eight sceneries in the Songun era, a campaign for arranging rural villages like Poman-ri has been launched vigorously across the country.
Over the last years smart rural villages have come into being in many ris including Migok-ri, Sariwon City, Unjong-ri, Pongsan County, Phyongam-ri, Koksan County, and Midang-ri,Thosan County, in North Hwanghae Province alone. Various rural villages have been arranged as socialist rural villages commensurate with the Songun era on a number of farms including Songjong Co-op Farm, Riwon County, South Hamgyong Province where a village has been constructed along the sea-beach.
Similar villages have made their appearance, more than 150 at the foot of Mt. Paektu, 50 in South Phyongan Province and nearly 50 in North Phyongan Province. The construction of rural villages is in full swing.
The newly built dwellings are furnished with all facilities needed for the life of peasants. Electric heating system and methane have been introduced into the recently built dwelling houses with solar heat green houses so as to cultivate vegetables even in winter.
Solar cells have been installed on the roofs of the Tongsan village houses in Chongsan-ri, Kangso County, South Phyongan Province, which makes it possible to protect environment and increase the energy utilization rate. The new villages add beauty to socialist Korea.
