Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- New postage stamps (one souvenir sheet and seven individual stamps) were issued in the DPRK.
Printed in the souvenir sheet is a char of Lake Chon against the background of Lake Chon on the top of Mt. Paektu, the sacred mountain of revolution.
The char, a speciality of Mt. Paektu under special protection of the International Biosphere Sanctuary, is a unique char, a river fish developed into a lake fish. After being moved to the water area of Lake Chon, it has been adapted to the severe meteorological, climatic and hydrologic conditions and ecological environment through decades.
The individual stamp issued on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the enforcement of the universal compulsory secondary education depicts the happy looks of the students and children growing into dependable pillars of the country, benefiting by free education.
Also printed in individual stamps are posters showing a People's Army soldier firmly defending the motherland with the rifle, regarding national defence as the supreme manifestation of patriotism, and a woman farmer full of ardor to do her bit in improving the dietary life of the people by reaping a bumper crop of soy bean.
There are individual stamps introducing Moran Hill, a scenic spot of Pyongyang.
