Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee made public a statement on Thursday, 30 years since the U.S. and the south Korean puppets cooked up the aggressive military organ "Combined Forces Command."
The statement said as follows:
Upset by the strong demand from international arena for the dismantlement of the "UN Command" in south Korea and pullout of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces, the U.S. cooked up the "Combined Forces Command" together with the south Korean puppets on November 7, 1978. This was a blatant challenge to the demand of the Korean nation and the world peace-loving people, and it was an unpardonable crime as it revealed the intention to legitimize the permanent military occupation of south Korea and realize the ambition for invasion of the DPRK at any cost.
The history of last three decades goes to clearly prove that the "Combined Forces Command" is a ruling tool of the U.S. occupation forces over south Korea and a field executive organ for provoking a war of aggression on the DPRK.
The withdrawal of the U.S. troops has been urged and anti-U.S. sentiments have rapidly mounted in south Korea. Under such situation, the U.S. and the south Korean puppets are these days talking about reorganization of the "Combined Forces Command" under the signboard of the deceptive "transfer of the right to command the wartime operation," while creating impression that this reflected mindset of the south Korean people and changed reality.
However, the "reorganization" move is undoubtedly based on a very dishonest and dangerous scheme to maintain the U.S. military occupation of south Korea and round off the preparations for a war against the DPRK based on preemptive attack.
History and reality clearly show that the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet warmongers are the wanton violator of the Korean nation's dignity and sovereignty and the disturber of peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
It is as clear as noonday that the Korean nation will suffer disaster of a nuclear war in addition to the tragedy of national division if the U.S. occupation of south Korea and its hostile policy towards the DPRK are allowed to last and the Lee Myung Bak group is allowed to persist in anti-DPRK confrontation moves, kowtowing to outside forces.
The U.S. should stop at once the reckless moves for a war of aggression on the DPRK and pull back its aggression forces with lethal equipment from south Korea without delay, facing up to the trend of the times.
