Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists' policy of giving importance to the Asia-Pacific region is a criminal policy of seriously threatening peace and security in the region. The U.S. pursuance of the said policy is pushing the regional situation to an unpredictable catastrophic phase. If a war breaks out in the region, it will develop into a nuclear war to easily spill over into other parts of the world.
Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.
The U.S. openly claims that its future is linked with the Asia-Pacific region. This clearly reveals its intention to put the region under its control.
During the Cold War the U.S. kept its huge armed forces in the region under the pretext of fending off "southward advance" of the Soviet Union. Today when the Cold War came to an end and there is no rival of military competition, the U.S. is left with neither pretext nor justification to keep its nuclear bases and military bases in the region any longer.
However, it is stepping up the forward deployment of its forces in the region.
It is the U.S. imperialists' wild ambition and strategy to launch another Korean war and put the whole Korean Peninsula under its control and thus establish the sphere of its domination over Asia in the 21st century at any cost.
The U.S. imperialists singled out the DPRK, China and Russia as targets of their nuclear attack. The U.S. attaches importance to Northeast Asia, Japan in particular, in executing its strategy for preemptive attack. It, therefore, seeks to deploy huge aggression troops in the region and realize its ambition to put Asia under its control by using them.
The U.S. warlike forces' frantic moves to build a missile shield in Asia are also aimed to realize their ambition for domination over the region with ease.
The Asian and other peace-loving people of the world should clearly see through the aggressive and dangerous nature of the U.S. imperialists' policy of giving importance to Asia-Pacific and frustrate their criminal attempt through united struggle, the article concludes.
