Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- Inhabitants in areas near military bases in different parts of south Korea launched vigorous joint actions after forming the organization called "National Network of People in the Areas Suffering from Noise Caused by Military Bases."
An inaugural ceremony was held in Seoul on Nov. 4.
Speakers at the ceremony said that the damage done to inhabitants by the firing grounds and airfields in different parts of south Korea is further increasing as the days go by.
The inhabitants in the areas near the firing grounds and airfields are suffering not only from the environmental pollution but from noise and are seized with such uneasiness that they can hardly raise even domestic animals, they deplored, and continued:
This being a hard fact, the authorities are sidestepping the issue of instituting a "law" on preventing damage under the pretext of lack of funds.
The speakers declared that the inhabitants in the above-said areas would go united and stage positive actions to get the problem settled.
They urged the Ministry of "Defense" and the Ministry of Environment and other authorities concerned to immediately take measures and institute a "special law" on the damage done by noise, etc.
