Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- All countries desirous of independence should build and reinforce the self-reliant defence capability, keenly aware of the principle of anti-imperialist struggle and the truth of history that they should staunchly counter the force of the imperialists with force and only by doing so can they defend their sovereignty, independence and peace and ensure national prosperity and development.
Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a signed article.
It goes on:
The confrontation with the imperialist aggression forces is, in essence, a showdown and they can be beaten back only by force.
Acute confrontation is going on between the independent forces and hegemonic forces and between the peace-loving forces and the war forces in the international arena.
It is of peculiar importance to reinforce one's own defence capability as the confrontation with the imperialist aggressor forces is a showdown.
It is of particular necessity for small countries to boost their defence capabilities.
It is a daydream for those countries to depend on big or developed countries to carve out and protect their destinies because this only leads to submission and national ruin.
Having a powerful military force, the Korean people are now accelerating their advance to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, undeterred by any military pressure of the imperialists and their moves for aggression. It is the fixed faith and will of the army and people of the DPRK that to take the toughest measures backed by strength is the only way of emerging victorious in the confrontation with the U. S. imperialists and defending the country's sovereignty and socialism and it is their revolutionary mettle and mode of counter-action to respond to their hard-line policy with the toughest measures and counter force with force under the banner of Songun. The U.S. policy of strength will never work on the DPRK but prove futile.
The imperialists and reactionaries dare not commit aggression and war when the world progressive countries and nations firmly defend their countries with their own military forces, concludes the article.
