Pyongyang, November 12 (KCNA) -- Le Van Cu, Vietnamese ambassador to the DPRK, gave a reception on November 11 on the occasions of the 50th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's visit to Vietnam and the first anniversary of the meeting between General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Present there on invitation were Pak Ui Chun, minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Thae Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and officials concerned.
On hand were staff members of the Vietnamese embassy.
Le Van Cu said at the reception that Kim Il Sung's visit to Vietnam was a historic event as it greatly encouraged the Vietnamese people in the efforts to build a new life and provided firm foundation for comradely and fraternal relations of friendship and cooperation between the parties, governments and peoples of the two countries.
The historic meeting between General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and General Secretary Kim Jong Il marked a milestone in putting the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and the DPRK on a new high stage, he noted.
The Vietnamese party, government and people will strive to further develop the friendly relations with the Korean party, government and people, setting store by them, and advance shoulder to shoulder with the fraternal Korean people in the struggle to build socialism and achieve global peace and stability, he stressed.
Pak Ui Chun in his speech hoped that the Vietnamese people would achieve greater successes in the work for the prosperity of the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
We will make efforts to consolidate and develop on a full scale the bilateral relations in the future, too, he said.
