Pyongyang, November 12 (KCNA) -- Nearly forty years have passed since people began to hear pupils of Pyongyang Ryulgok Middle School sing for Korean children's films.
Han Song Hui, chief of the Children's Music Class of the school, told KCNA:
Since they made their debut in the Korean children's film "The Idle Pig" the "orioles" of our school sang more than 850 theme songs of children's films including "A Swift Winged Horse", "The Boy General", "The Clever Raccoon Dog" and "A Squirrel and A Hedgehog".
They were also enthusiastically applauded by people for their impressive presentation of children's songs in the multi-part feature film "The Nation and Destiny", the feature film "A Schoolgirl's Diary" and the TV serial story "New Spring of Sokgaeul".
The Children's Music Class has recorded at least 3,500 pieces of songs including famous "Song of Blessing" and "Snow of the New Year Falls" and newly composed songs on CDs and video tapes and aired through TV and radio.
On the other hand, they encouraged soldiers and constructors through their brisk performance activities at seething socialist construction sites.
Many pupils have grown to be well-known singers of the country.
A few years ago, leader Kim Jong Il visited a unit of the Korean People's Army and saw a performance of art pieces by the company. When he learned that a recruited girl soldier who sang well was a graduate of our school, he was deeply pleased, saying she was from the "orioles' school" he knew well and had a picture taken with her.
Now, the children's music class is deeply loved by school children and working people as a group of child singers.
