Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- Historians of south Korea launched a signature campaign in protest against the puppet government's move to rewrite history textbooks.
The Society for the Study of History sponsored the signature campaign rejecting the recent "recommendation" for revising the history textbooks made by the puppet Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. As of Nov. 10 the signature paper was signed by 676 historians from across south Korea.
The society clarified that it would get a declaration of historians in south Korea and abroad titled "the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, stop the rewriting of textbooks!" as well as a list of participants in the campaign published on a leading newspaper.
It charged that the above-said action taken by the ministry was prompted by the political intention to rewrite history textbooks as desired by the ruling forces.
The society urged the authorities to conduct proper education, halt the move to revise history textbooks and stop putting unreasonable pressure upon publishing houses and history textbook writers.
