Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated an art performance given by soldiers of a company under KPA Unit 235, a company under KPA Unit 851 and a company under KPA Unit 507 who proved successful at the 32nd art festival of servicepersons of the KPA.
The performers put on the stage such colorful numbers of various genres as chorus "May the Song of a Happy Soldier Reverberate Far and Wide," poem and song "Unforgettable Ridge of Mt. Osong," story-telling and song "General and Our Kamnamu Company," instrumental music and song "Song of Defending Homeland," narration and chorus "Hero Was Eighteen Years Old," interlude "Company Is One Family," accordion and song "Soldiers, Let's Become Heroes," story-telling and song "Our Army and Our People," poem and story-telling "Let's Hold Higher Rifle of Working Class," solo "I Know It Now" and chorus "For the Motherland."
Through the performance servicepersons of the Company of Hero Ri Su Bok, the Company of Mount Osong and the Kamnamu Company, a company with lots of persimmon trees, enthusiastically sang of the immortal Songun leadership exploits performed by Kim Jong Il and their happiness under the care of the great brilliant commander and powerfully demonstrated the fixed faith and iron will of the servicepersons of the KPA to defend the headquarters of the revolution at the cost of their lives and accomplish the noble revolutionary cause of Juche with arms.
At the end of the performance Kim Jong Il waved back to the enthusiastically cheering performers and congratulated them on their successful presentation.
He said that he was very much pleased to meet again the soldiers with whom he had got acquainted while inspecting the front. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that all of them have grown to be fighters of matchless strength and highly appreciated their successful performance.
All the servicepersons of the KPA have not only been trained as stalwart fighters intensely loyal to the party and the leader, the country and its people but have grown to be soldiers of an invincible revolutionary army with noble morality and high cultural attainments, he noted, adding that the best socialist system centered on the popular masses is indestructible as the country is being defended by such elite armed forces.
He extended warm greetings to all the participants in the 32nd art festival of servicepersons of the KPA, saying that the festival which was held with great success fully demonstrated the validity and vitality of the party's policy on popularizing arts and soldier culture created in the Songun era.
The soldier culture, a full embodiment of independence and creativeness of human beings, fully represents the spirit of the times, militant optimism and rich emotion and it serves as a typical example of socialist cultured practice in the life in the Songun era and a genuine model to be followed by all officials and other working people, he said, stressing once again the need to steadily push forward the work to widely disseminate the revolutionary soldier culture throughout the society.
He said the glorious history of the Korean revolution that started with songs and has advanced with songs represents the great victory of the politics on music which fully proved the might of arts, setting forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further developing the popular art activities, an important means for increasing the combat capability of the units.
Among the audience were Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the KPA General Staff, Kim Jong Gak, first vice-director of the General Political Department of the KPA, KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae, Kim Myong Guk and Ri Myong Su and other commanding officers of the KPA, Kim Yang Gon, department director of the C.C., WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Je Gang and Ri Jae Il, first department vice-directors of the C.C., WPK, and Cha Sung Su, chairman of the Radio and TV Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK, and other leading officials.
