Pyongyang, November 18 (KCNA) -- Thirteen organizations of south Korea including the Society for Human Rights Movement, the Women's Committee of the Lawyers Association for Democratic Society and the Buddhist Human Rights Committee issued a joint statement on Nov. 12 denouncing the "Human Rights Committee" for its unjust act of defending the police's human rights abuses.
The statement said that the human rights abuses the police committed by walking off those women who participated in candlelight rallies in protest against the import of American beef and keeping them in custody in August last are touching off the resentment of people from all walks of life.
It accused the above-said committee, which claimed conducted a probe into the truth about the case, of making a recommendation-like decision on Nov. 11 far from punishing the criminals.
The police have long perpetrated human rights abuses, unhindered, the statement noted, urging the committee to keenly feel responsible for having allowed the police to continue abusing human rights instead of punishing all perpetrators of crimes.
