GNP's Moves to Institute Evil Laws Condemned in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- The People's Emergency Action for Defending Democracy and Checking Suppression of Candlelight Actions and "Media Action" of south Korea together with opposition parties including the Democratic Labor Party held a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 18 denouncing the puppet authorities for their moves to strengthen their fascist power.

A press release read out at the press conference accused the "Grand National Party" of recently pushing ahead with the moves to adopt five undemocratic laws--a "bill on the revision of the law on Intelligence Service", a "bill for revising the law on protecting telecommunication secrets", the "law on combating terrorism", the "law on keeping secrets" and the "law on tiding over cyber crisis."

The press release labeled them evil laws for abusing human rights as they are aimed at intensifying the monitoring and investigation into all fabrics of society under the pretext of "national interests" and binding civic and public organizations, political parties, politicians and even all the people hand and foot.

Lee Myung Bak and the GNP are working hard to fabricate another version of the "National Security Law", the release said, urging them to immediately stop the moves to institute undemocratic evil laws encouraging the serious human rights abuses and backing the suppression by the present regime under the pretext of "security".

Noting that the five evil laws which the GNP is working hard to fabricate are eventually aimed to reinforce the "Intelligence Service", speakers at the conference said that the adoption of even one of these laws would help the "government" openly pursue "a secret chamber policy and a policy based on intelligence."

They expressed their determination to check the institution of the above-mentioned laws by every possible means and methods through the concerted efforts of different civic and public organizations and opposition parties.
