Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- Representatives of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) launched actions requesting the political parties and organizations of Japan to cooperate in the efforts to put an end to the politically motivated suppression of Koreans in Japan and human rights abuses by the Japanese authorities.
Ko Tok U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee and chairman of the Committee of Rights and Welfare of Chongryon, and representatives of the Department for International Relations and Reunification Issue of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, the Korean Federation of Workers in Commerce in Japan and the Shinjuku, Tokyo Metropolis, Association of Korean Traders and Industrialists in Japan met with representatives of the Social-Democratic Party of Japan on Nov. 5.
They recalled that the public security department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Office searched the above-said association, an organization under Chongryon, on the charge of "violation of the law on taxation" on Oct. 29, adding that this was an atrocity going beyond the tolerance limit. They disclosed the sinister aim sought by the Japanese authorities through this action.
It is absolutely intolerable that the above-said police authorities conducted the search operation after picking up again the issue which had already found a solution, they declared.
They urged the Japanese government to roll back the undisguised hostile policy towards the DPRK and Chongryon and halt the politically motivated suppression and human rights abuses against Koreans in Japan. They also demanded it immediately cease the unreasonable search and make an apology for it and sincerely implement the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
They handed to the representatives of the Social-Democratic Party of Japan written requests addressed to the political parties and organizations of Japan.
Meanwhile, representatives of Chongryon met with representatives of the "Peace Forum," the All-Japan Confederation of Local Autonomy Government Workers' Unions, the All-Japan Confederation of Harbor Workers' Unions, the Ideological Movement of Activists Group and other public organizations and trade unions of Japan on Oct. 31 and in the period from Nov. 5 to 8 to demand an end to the Japanese authorities' politically motivated suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.
