Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- A reception was arranged by the DPRK embassy in Beijing on Nov. 20 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the conclusion of the agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between the DPRK and China.
Present there on invitation were Cai Wu, minister of Culture, Hu Zhengyue, assistant to the foreign minister, and officials concerned of China.
Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, and staff members of his embassy were on hand.
Cai Wu said in a speech at the reception that the agreement confirmed the overall framework of cooperation in economy and culture between the two countries and the orientation of its advance and put strong impetus to the sound development of the traditional Sino-Korean relations of friendship and cooperation.
Serious and complicated changes have taken place in the international situation since the beginning of the 21st century but the two countries, parties and peoples have steadily enriched the contents of the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, seeking a new way of cooperation in the fields of economy and culture, he stressed.
Noting that the above-said relations have steadily developed under the concern of the leaders of the two countries, he said that the Chinese people are pleased to see the fresh successes made by the Korean people in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by Kim Jong Il.
China, a true friend of the DPRK, will join it in the future, too, in the efforts to ensure that socialist construction in the two countries will achieve steady and fresh successes, closely cooperating and helping each other, he emphasized.
