Japan Urged to Redeem Its Past Crimes
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Japan should make a clear-cut definition of its past history and a correct policy decision on its basis. This will serve as a barometer to judge whether Japan is entitled to advance into the international political arena or has to remain a target of the world's curse and condemnation after being thrown beyond the fringe of history for being a criminal state.

Rodong Sinmun Sunday says this in a signed article.

The issue of Japan's bid for permanent membership of the UNSC which it so eagerly wishes to realize and enlist the support of the international community for it depends on its principled admission of its crime-woven history and on its readiness to make reparation for it, the article notes, and goes on:

It is an unavoidable obligation Japan assumed before the times and history to honestly admit its wrong history and take a right path in the light of the principle of historicism and requirements of the public.

The desperate bid made by Japan for permanent membership of the UNSC is aimed not at ensuring the world peace and security but at achieving its sinister political and military aims.

Japan is regarded as an untrustworthy and dangerous country in the international arena at present. If Japan is allowed to sit on the UNSC, it will perpetrate any indecent act without hesitation by abusing the authority of the UN and, accordingly, it will cause the world to suffer war disasters. Whether Japan is ready to liquidate its past crimes or not is the only yardstick to verify its ulterior intention. For Japan to redress its past wrongs is its first and foremost task to win the trust from the international community. Before doing so, Japan is not entitled to discuss any world issue and should not eye permanent membership of the UNSC, in particular.
