Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- The second national mushroom cultivation scientific and technological presentation and exhibition will be held in Pyongyang on November 26 and 27.
The achievements and experience gained in the research for growing tasty and nutritious mushrooms and improving the people's dietary life will be shared at the presentation.
These years the DPRK has intensified the research for specialization, standardization and intensification of mushroom cultivation -- breeding of mushroom of good strains, standardization of quality index of spore and substrate and rational technical data for mushroom cultivation.
The Mushroom Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has registered many successes in the intensive research into various strains of mushrooms.
It has built a mushroom spore production center and selected and confirmed mushroom of high-yielding strains. Basing itself on this, it solved in time the scientific and technological problems arising in disseminating spore across the country, thus contributing to activating the mushroom production.
Scientists studied and completed cultivation technology of Coprinus comatus with the waste matters of Pleurotus ostreatus production as main raw-materials so as to double the utility rate of raw materials for mushroom cultivation and considerably raise mushroom production. They also succeeded in artificially cultivating Auricularia polytricha, which grows in mountainous areas, with such by-products as rice straw and sawdust and thus made it possible to breed mushrooms in mid-summer.
The Korean Mushroom Technological Association was formed last year, which is doing its bit in holding presentation of scientific and technological experiences in mushroom cultivation and disseminating production experience, mushroom growing technological information, etc.
Mushroom farms have made their appearance in all provinces, cities and counties and mushrooms are being cultivated in a big way in co-op farms, industrial establishments, families and many other units.
