Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Personages of various strata in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 19 at which they released a declaration denouncing the U.S. forces for their brazen-faced act of diverting the illegally accumulated funds for the upkeep of the U.S. troops in south Korea to the purpose of transferring their military bases.
Speakers at the press conference disclosed that the U.S. is scheming to cover just 5.8 percent of the expenses for the transfer of their military bases though it is pushing ahead with it for carrying out its new military strategy.
The declaration accused the U.S. of having pressurized the south Korean authorities to increase the share of the upkeep of the U.S. troops in south Korea, talking about the "alliance," and accumulated the funds thus obtained so as to spend for the transfer of the bases.
This being an undeniable illegal act, the south Korean authorities are talking nonsense that it poses no problem to divert the funds for the upkeep of the U.S. forces as there was "bilateral understanding and agreement," it noted, and continued:
The authorities submitted to the "National Assembly" the budget for the upkeep of the U.S. forces for 2009 much bigger than this year's. This is little short of conniving at and allowing any illegal act of the U.S. in the future, too.
The declaration urged the authorities to recover the total amount of the illegally accumulated funds, sharply cut down the upkeep of the U.S. forces and put a definite end to the illegal acts of the U.S.
