Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- Researches into and survey of the situation of the aged population took place in the DPRK in Juche 96 (2007).
Before the survey, researchers of the Population Centre worked out a survey plan, survey index and survey questionnaires on the basis of experiences in the past census.
Meanwhile, substantial test survey and census workshop were organized in preparation for a spot survey.
On this basis, the researchers carried out a survey among old folks above sixty and their families in nearly 60 dongs and ris of Pyongyang City, South Phyongan and South Hamgyong Provinces
In this course a lot of information about the demographic conditions and socio-economic activities of the aged persons, their educational and health status, the characteristics of their families and understanding of the question of aged people were collected.
After analyzing the collected materials, the Population Centre worked out a report on the researches into and survey of the situation of the aged population and called a symposium on it.
The materials on the researches and survey in 2007 will be effectively used in establishing socio-economic and health and medical measures for the old folks and formulating a series of new plans of activities for them.
