Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea held the 85th rally for peace and disarmament in Seoul on Nov. 25, denouncing the puppet authorities for their moves to increase military expenditure. A letter of protest to the puppet National Assembly was read out there. The "NA National Defense Committee", when examining the budget for military funds for fiscal 2009, put additional funds for the research into tanks and copters for attack and the introduction of infantry armored vehicles to the budget bill already increased 7.8% as compared with that for this year, the letter said. The letter exposed that issues related to the funds for the introduction of such weapons for preemptive attack as early warning and control plane, the expansion of Mugon-ri drill ground, the transfer of the U.S. military bases and the upkeep of the U.S. forces were approved as demanded by the present "government", referring to the fact that the expenditure for the building of a naval base on Jeju Island increased to tens of billions of wons. To spend so much money for the military affairs is an act of going against the peace and disarmament on the Korean Peninsula and pushing the people into bigger suffering, the letter condemned. Urging the need to stop the moves for increasing military spending, the letter stated that they would expose and punish without fail the crimes of the members of the "NA National Defense Committee." |
