Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The Green Federation, an environmental movement organization of south Korea, issued a statement on Nov. 25 in which it accused the puppet Defense Ministry of taking an unfair step to impose the expenses of de-polluting the degraded environment in the U.S. military bases upon local self-governing bodies.
The statement stated that the amount of expenses of de-polluting the degraded soil and purifying the polluted groundwater in the 17 U.S. military bases to be taken over from the U.S troops present in south Korea are over twice what the ministry announced last year.
The ministry is contemplating burdening local self-governing bodies with the above-said expenses, the statement said, holding that the ministry should bear full responsibility for its humiliating handling of the issue of expenses of de-polluting the degraded environment in the U.S. military bases.
