Nonmetallic mineral resources including coal were discovered in South Phyongan Province, fields of iron ore in South Hwanghae and Kangwon Provinces, nonferrous metal and minerals reserve sites in Ryanggang Province and fields of minerals and water resources in South Hamgyong Province.
