Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- A resolution on extending again the embargo on the DPRK-flagged ships was adopted at the Japanese Diet recently under the pretext of the "abduction and nuclear issues." This was a deliberate and premeditated provocative act of the Japanese reactionaries to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK and stand in the way of solving the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed commentary. It goes on: It is the true intention of the Japanese reactionaries to drive the six-party talks to collapse and prevent the nuclear issue on the peninsula from being settled in a bid to secure a justification for the conversion of Japan into a military power and nuclear weaponization. Japan is groundlessly finding fault with the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and frantically staging a campaign to suppress and destroy it by use of state power, hyping the abduction issue and persistently evading its responsibility for redressing its past crimes, the core issue in settling the issue of the relations between the DPRK and Japan. Japan has not yet honestly reflected on nor made any proper reparation for the hideous crimes it committed against humanity in the past. It has thrown documents on those crimes into fire for the past decades for fear of their disclosure. The crimes committed by Japan in the past can never fall into oblivion of themselves with the flow of time nor can they be written off due to its desperate efforts to cover them up. Japan's claim that it apologized for its hideous crimes committed against humanity in the past is nothing but hypocrisy intended to mislead world public opinion. It is the height of folly for the Japanese reactionaries to try to gain something by browbeating and pressurizing the Korean people through the racket of sanctions. They are expressing irrepressible resentment at the Japanese authorities keen to attain a sinister political aim by using the sanctions as a means of pressurizing the DPRK and hardening their will to settle accounts with Japan at any cost. The Japanese reactionaries' noisier call for tightened sanctions against the DPRK and the like will only invite bitterer disgrace and more thorough isolation in the international community. |
