Ice hockey, figure-skating, speed skating, short track speed skating and skiing events will take place in Pyongyang, Samjiyon and Pujon during the contest.

Jong In Chol, vice-chairman of the Korean Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, said in an address made at the opening ceremony that all the players and coaches should achieve good successes conducive to the nation's sports development by applying Korean-style sporting principle and methods to games and fully displaying high skills they have cultivated in their day-to-day trainings.
