The 1st National Art Festival Commemorating the Day of the Sun was held with splendor to gratify the unanimous desire of the entire Korean people to hold President Kim Il Sung always in high esteem.

Working people of all strata, to say nothing of professional artistes, put on the festival stage colorful programs of new themes high in ideological standard with their refined artistic skill so as to vividly illustrate the fresh aspects of ever-flourishing Songun culture.

Masterpieces stirring the times were created one after another in musical art.

"Song of Loyalty", a song of praise sung by the whole people, and such songs as "Motherland, Prosper", "I'll Be the Flower to Herald the Spring", "Desire of Soldier", "Song of Chollima Forerunner" and "Snow Falls" were given new rendition as masterpieces strongly appealing to people's hearts.

The Grand Gymnastic and Artistic Performance "Arirang", a treasure of human culture and art, was given before capacity crowds, startling the world.

The first contest of the second-term of art groups of families of servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, the combined art performance of art groups of ministries and national institutions celebrating the February 16 holiday and the national art performance of war veterans marking the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War displayed the true picture of the involvement of the masses in art activities.

Many poems including "Let Flag of Our Republic Fly Higher!" depicting the immortal feats of the three generals of Mt. Paektu recorded in the 60-year long history of the DPRK and "Call of Naval Port", "Follow What We Are Doing" and other feature films portraying men of the Songun era were created to pull at the heartstrings of people.

Lots of fine art works rich in ideological content and artistic value were presented to national art shows including a national art exhibition commemorating the Day of the Sun, which well showed the development of Juche-oriented art.

Artists of the Mansudae Art Studio presented Korean paintings and porcelain crafts to the 11th Beijing International Art Exposition and the Jingdezhen International Porcelain Fair in China-2008 to be awarded the top prize "Best Art Creation Idea" and diploma, and gold prize. And acrobats were awarded "Gold Prize of Yellow Crane" at the 8th Wuhan International Acrobatics Festival.

All these achievements are brilliant fruits of the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea on literature and art.
