Aware of the mission assigned to them by the times in finding a shortcut to an economic power, the scientists and technicians of the country have devoted their creative wisdom and patriotic zeal to solving scientific and technological problems arising in its building.

In this course results of researches in cutting-edge sectors have been introduced and generalized in various domains and a basic space data base loading a huge amount of data has been operated, thus making it possible to undertake scientific researches on a new scientific and technological basis.

A heat functional chip using nano particles, a new kind of power semiconductor, a bipolar integrated circuit and others have been developed.

The Juche-oriented iron-making system has been further rounded off, new kinds of metal materials have been developed and applied and researches into an effective use of magnesite abundant in the country have borne fruits to markedly increase the Juche character and independence of the national economy.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of scientists and technicians, technical reconstruction has progressed in high gear in lots of units including the Taedonggang Battery Factory, the Sariwon Essential Foodstuff Factory and the Chonnaeri Cement Factory.

The revolutionary ardor of the scientists, technicians and working people to firmly back the policy of giving importance to science and technology for the prosperity of the nation under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea was also fully displayed at the 10th National Exhibition of Invention and New Technology to which over 1,500 items of invention and new technology were presented.
