Lee Myung Bak Group's Human Rights Abuses Blasted

Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- Recently the south Korean puppet police authorities arrested Ri Sok Haeng, chairman of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, on the charge of the violation of "the law on assembly and demonstration" for the mere reason that he participated in the massive struggle waged in protest against the import of American beef. In its wake the "Seoul district court" issued an arrest warrant for him. Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: This is brutal suppression of the legitimate labor movement and a hideous human rights abuse as it trampled down upon even the elementary right to existence and democracy. It goes on: Cracking down upon the entirely just struggle of the KCTU, terming it "a violation of the law" and the like is nothing but an entirely unwarranted politically motivated suppression as it is a product of the fascist plot of the Lee Myung Bak group to destroy the KCTU at any cost under all sorts of pretexts, regarding it as a thorn in the flesh. Lee and his cohorts have so far talked a lot about someone's "human right abuses." But do they have any qualification or face to dare talk about "human rights"? It is preposterous, indeed, for them to use every opportunity to trumpet about "human rights" though they are harshly suppressing those workers who demand the guarantee of their right to existence, far from recognizing this most elementary human right. They are a group of the worst human rights abusers putting the successive dictators into the shade as they have not guaranteed even elementary right to existence and democratic freedom to the south Korean people but savagely suppressed them by violence. The group would be well advised to settle their human rights problem before pulling up others, urges the commentary. |
