It was from May Juche 68 (1979) that the school train began to run to the foot of Mt. Paekam nearly 2,000 meters above the sea, crossing over Pujon Pass, high and steep.

The train has covered a distance of more than 155,000 kilometers till today.

The first commuter students were no more than eight. A school train for them came into being and a new railway station was built in a nameless mountainous village at the foot of Pujon Pass, producing a legend of love.

The students have realized their wish for learning to their hearts' content, attending school by the train.

The school train did not stop running even in the period of the "Arduous March" and the forced march.

The repair, general overhaul and normal operation of the passenger train and locomotive are done at the expense of the state.

Since its operation, more than 300 students have graduated from Paekam Middle School, attending school by the train.
