Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed commentary terms his remarks a dangerous prelude to a new nuclear arms race.

The commentary cites facts to prove that the U.S. is talking about the "nuclear disarmament" but, in actuality, is doggedly opposed to it and seeking the modernization of nuclear weapons, as a matter of fact.

It is an invariable policy and the strategic intention of the U.S. imperialists to contain other powers with the nuclear edge and threaten and blackmail and control the anti-imperialist independent countries in a bid to realize their ambition to dominate the world, says the commentary, and goes on:

These facts convince other countries that only when they have strong military deterrent, can they protect their rights to exist from the U.S. and defend state security and strategic interests.

The U.S. imperialists' moves for the modernization of nuclear weapons compel the Korean people to heighten their revolutionary vigilance and the DPRK to build powerful deterrent to cope with them. The U.S. reckless acts spark and escalate the new nuclear arms race and it is bringing the danger of a nuclear showdown and this will not do it good either.

The U.S. can never dominate the world with nuclear weapons.
