Koreans Called upon to Meet Anti-Reunification Forces' Challenge

Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The prevailing situation calls on the Koreans in the north and south of Korea and abroad responsible for national reunification to unite close as one and stage a more dynamic drive to meet the challenge of the separatist forces inside and outside Korea.

Rodong Sinmun today urges this in a signed article.

Without removing hurdles from the way of independent reunification it is impossible to achieve national unity, reunification and prosperity.

The U.S. domination and interference in south Korea are a stumbling block in the way of independent reunification. The U.S. imperialists have pursued a separatist policy aimed at dominating the Korean nation after keeping Korea divided into two permanently and have not hesitated to sacrifice Koreans with an eye to realize their strategy for world hegemony ever since the very day of their occupation of south Korea.

The U.S. military presence in south Korea and its moves to perpetuate Korea's division have lasted for more than half a century, throwing an obstacle in the way of the Koreans' movement for achieving independent reunification.

The U.S. warmongers are getting frantic in their moves to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK in league with the south Korean puppets, straining the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The U.S. adventurous moves to provoke a war are increasing the danger of a nuclear war on the peninsula and gravely threatening the Korean nation's cause of independent reunification.

The Lee Myung Bak regime's moves to escalate the inter-Korean confrontation are laying grave obstacles in the way of independent reunification. "A policy toward the north" persistently followed by the Lee group despite the strong public protest and denunciation at home and abroad irrefutably proves that it is a confrontational declaration totally negating the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and obstructing their implementation.

The reality clearly testifies to the fact that it is impossible to achieve their cherished desire for independent reunification, peace and prosperity as long as the Lee group is allowed to stay in power, running amuck to do harm to the fellow countrymen in collusion with outside forces, swimming against the trend of the June 15 era of reunification.
