He was accompanied by Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Thae Nam, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee.

He first went round the monument to the on-the-spot guidance provided by President Kim Il Sung standing in the compound of the complex and the room devoted to its history.

He said that the complex associated with the President's history of the nation-building characterized by the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude experienced and bore witness to a great history showing the patriotic devotion of the President who dedicated his whole life to the building of a rich and powerful country and the might of the integral whole formed between the leader and the people.

He highly praised the workers of the complex for their feats performed before the country and its people, the times and the revolution, noting that they have made a great contribution to the work for building an independent national economy and industrializing the country for a long period up to this date since the early period of building a new country, remaining true to the idea and guidance of the leader.

He learned in detail about the construction and production at the complex, looking round the newly built UHP electric arc furnace and other places.

He highly appreciated the distinguished services rendered by the officials, technicians and workers of the complex, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that they have successfully built the UHP electric arc furnace of Korean-style, which may be called the core of the steel industry, in the spirit of self-reliance in hearty response to the WPK's policy of attaching importance to science.

He met with Ho In Hwan, one of the heads of the first Chollima work-teams in the period of the great Chollima upswing, Ri Jae Gyong who designed the above-said furnace and other officials, workers and technicians who have done a lot of things, working at the complex for years, and highly praised their patriotic spirit before having a photo taken with them.

He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the complex to establish a steel production system based on Juche steel and ensure supply service, stressing that the steel industry is one of the most important fields in building an economic power.

Only four years are left before opening the gate of a great prosperous powerful nation and there are many difficulties and trials to be weathered, he said, adding but the Korean people are sure to emerge victorious as long as they have inexhaustible creative power as they are armed with the spirit of self-reliance and have the powerful Juche-based industry equipped with new technology.

Noting that the Korean people opened the gate of industrialization at one go by advancing several centuries in the spirit of self-reliance which stunned the world in the 1950s, he underscored the need to give full play to the might of self-reliance which was augmented in the days of "the Arduous March", the forced march and thus build a great prosperous powerful nation earlier than scheduled.

He earnestly called on the entire party and army and all the people to bring about a new revolutionary surge with the conviction of sure victory and indomitable spirit and thus fling open the gate of a great prosperous powerful nation by 2012 and more strikingly demonstrate the dignity and might of Songun Korea.
