The Korean people acclaimed Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the KPA on Dec. 24, 1991, the statement said, and went on:

Under his leadership they have reliably defended the sovereignty and dignity of the country and dynamically pushed forward the drive to build a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, holding high the banner of Songun.

The world progressives are joining the Korean people in commemorating Dec. 24 when
Kim Jong Suk, mother of Korea, was born.

Kim Jong Suk displayed the heroic self-sacrificing spirit in defending the headquarters of the revolution as the closest comrade-in-arms of President Kim Il Sung after participating in the anti-Japanese armed struggle led by him.

She lives forever as mother of Korea and model lifeguard in devotedly defending the leader.
