The message said that last year was a year of great victory, a year of jubilee of national history which powerfully demonstrated before the world the greatness and might of Songun Korea under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il and a year of the grand struggle in which all the fellow countrymen waged the dynamic movement for national reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself."

It noted that Kim Jong Il powerfully encouraged the movement of the fellow countrymen for national reunification to achieve independence, peace and prosperity through his patriotic Songun politics and indefatigable leadership, taking the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration based on the idea of "By our nation itself" as the declarations of national independence and great unity and the great programmes for national reunification.

It stressed that the immortal feats he performed by having strengthened the DPRK into an invincible socialist power with his original Songun politics, the almighty treasured sword of the times and revolution, powerfully promoted the advance of national reunification and the cause of global independence and thus glorified 2008 as a year of historic victory to be recorded in the annals of the country, will shine for all ages.

We will make the worship for Kim Jong Il and hot wind of supporting Songun prevail all over south Korea through a dynamic struggle to awaken and organize the people from all walks of life, it said, and went on:

We will kindle more dynamically the torch of the struggle against the U.S. and war and for getting the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea to put an end to the U.S. colonial domination and occupation of south Korea under the uplifted banner of independence against the U.S. and strive to more dynamically organize and reenergize the mass movement to cope with the ever-more undisguised and vicious moves of the pro-U.S. conservative forces against the DPRK and reunification and their moves to revive fascist dictatorship.

We will invariably adhere to the idea of "By our nation itself" advanced by Kim Jong Il as the banner of national reunification and wage a vigorous struggle to defend and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, thus opening a new epochal phase of national reunification, the message stressed.
