U.S. Contradictory Stance on Nuclear Issue Slammed

Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- The United States claims that nuclear activity in a certain country poses a problem while other country's nuclear activity does not pose any. This contradictory stance on the nuclear issue comes under fire by a signed commentary of Minju Joson Friday. It goes on: An interim report recently released by the U.S. Congressional Sub-Committee, Strategic Forces, pulling up the DPRK and Iran, asserted that the unbroken cases of nuclear proliferation perpetrated by them out of their "nuclear ambitions" might help nukes find their way to terrorist groups and it is, therefore, necessary for the U.S. to pursue a global strategy for nuclear non-proliferation and keep trustworthy and safe nukes capable of containing not only hostile countries but its allies. In another development, the U.S. is now mulling the conclusion of nuclear agreements with some countries in the Mideast. This indicates that the U.S. nuclear policy is devoid of a clear-cut standard and yardstick and it changes this or that way, depending on the country concerned. The nuclear issues that surfaced worldwide at present are directly or indirectly attributable to the U.S. unjust nuclear policy. The U.S. has perpetrated military provocations and posed grave nuclear threats to the non-nuclear states including the DPRK in the past, reneging on its commitment not to pose such threat to the non-nuclear states. On the contrary, it has zealously supported its followers in their nuclear weaponization in violation of international law. A typical example of this is Israel. Israel is believed to possess about 200 nuclear weapons at present. This is the stance of the U.S. which pretends to be opposed to the nuclear proliferation. The U.S. is handling the nuclear issue in a way to meet its own strategic interests only. The U.S. is classifying different countries in the world into this or that group as far as the nuclear issue is concerned. This biased attitude of the U.S. only makes the nuclear issue more complicated. The U.S. is sadly mistaken if it calculates it can pass the buck for the nuclear proliferation to somebody else. The U.S. can never evade the responsibility for having spread nukes. |
