It is true that the weapon is important in a war. The decisive factor of victory or defeat, however, is not the weapon but the great political and ideological superiority of the army.

Any enemy, whatever military and technical advantages he may have, finds himself on the losing end in face of an army possessed of such political and ideological superiority as noble revolutionary spirit of fighting for the freedom and liberation of the people, boundless loyalty to the Party and the leader, unparalleled self-sacrificing spirit and mass heroism readily laying down one's youth and life for the motherland and the revolution, revolutionary comradeship between officers and men, bonds of kinship with the people and conscious military discipline .

It was with superior political and ideological might that the revolutionary armed forces of Korea, under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, beat the Japanese imperialists, the robbers armed to the teeth, and liberated the motherland, and won in the Fatherland Liberation War by knocking down the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being "the strongest" in the world.

The Korean People's Army will firmly defend the sovereignty of the DPRK, giving fuller scope to the political and ideological superiority, the ever-victorious weapon, true to the Songun politics of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
