Misinformation by Media Assailed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 9 (KCNA) -- The People's Council for Livelihood and Democracy in south Korea held a press conference in Youido, Seoul, on Jan. 5 to criticize the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) for its misinformation.

In a press release the council deplored that after an aide to Lee Myung Bak was designated as head of KBS this system has lost its function as a public broadcasting agency by turning a blind eye to the facts unfavorable for the present regime or distorting facts.

KBS distorted the essence of the hubbub cropped up at the "National Assembly" by the Lee Myung Bak regime and the "Grand National Party" seeking to railroad the evil laws and made false reports about the struggles of civic and public organizations including the strike of the press trade union, it charged.

The council demanded that KBS make proper report of the Lee Myung Bak regime's arbitrary policy and its deeds of destroying the economy and democracy.

If KBS persistently goes to serve as an agency for Lee Myung Bak and the GNP in disregard of the population's demand, it will be forced to pay dearly for its behavior, the council warned.

Meanwhile, civic and public organizations including the Social Action for Strengthening Public Broadcasting held a press conference in Seoul on Jan. 6 to condemn the Chosun Ilbo, the Choongang Ilbo and the Dong-A Ilbo for their misinformation, according to CBS of south Korea.

The organizations urged the said conservative newspapers to stop at once their biased report about the present regime's retrogressive revision of the law on the press.
